JANUARY 2011: Lazarus Ioannou’s painting “Escarpment Road” ( now owned by a private collector) has been selected for exhibition at the Tom Thomson Gallery’s 48th Annual “CONVERGENCE: Juried Exhibition of Fine Art” . It was open to all Ontario artists, leading the jury to select from close to 300 works of art to “reward excellence and innovation in artistic production…..this annual show ‘takes the pulse’ of artmaking in the region, looking for work that exemplifies what makers are thinking about – contemporary artists’ concerns, working methods, and methods of exploration”.
The Awards Ceremony and Opening Reception is Sunday, January 16 at 2 pm. The show runs from Jan.14 – Mar.20, 2011.

OWEN SOUND ART BANNER 2010: May 2010. Lazarus Ioannou’s painting “Night Light” will soon grace the streets of downtown Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada.
For the 2nd year in a row, Laz’s work has been juried to participate in this city’s’Downtown Improvement Area’ Art Banner Project, which will feature a selection of local artists’ work on streetside banners to help promote the cultural heritage of this region and beautify the environment.
The banners will be displayed from May 2010 to May 2011, at which point they will be distributed to lucky donors and patrons of the arts that helped support the project. www.artbanner.ca

Lazarus Ioannou’s painting “Snow Crow Storm” will soon grace the streets of Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada.

“Visionary Award” at Southampton Gallery:
On Friday, April 11, 2008, Laz made his northern art debut at the Southampton Gallery’s 6th Annual ‘Feast For the Eyes’ juried art gala, in Southampton, Ontario, Canada. His painting ‘Oliphorest Tree Bird’was selected from over 150 submissions to be honoured with the coveted “Visionary Award” by esteemed judges Rachel Monckton (Collections Manager for Tom Thomson Art Gallery, Owen Sound), and local established artists Jean Francis and Gary McLaughlin.
